DISNEYLAND PARIS CELEBRATES 30 MAGICAL YEARS

Meeting Spiderman!

Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel

DISNEY MAGIC COMES TO EUROPE

12th April 1992 and Disney magic came to Europe with the opening of Euro Disney, the theme park that would grow to become today’s Disneyland Paris. The last 30 years have seen more than 250 million visitors. There’s been some magical milestones along the way including:

1994 - The resort changes its name from Euro Disney to Disneyland Paris.

1995 - Space Mountain (now Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain) starts sending guests on a

thrill ride “from the Earth to the Moon.”

1996 - Eurostar starts a direct service to Disneyland Paris.

2001 - By this year over 100 million people have visited.

2002 - Walt Disney Studios Park opens and there’s a whole new world to explore.

2006 - Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast opens inspired by Toy Story 2.

2007 - Toon Studio opens.

2022 - Walt Disney Studios Park is set to launch an extraordinary new land –

Avengers Campus! A whole new universe of thrills and adventures.

Having visited Disneyland Paris regularly since the very early days I couldn’t miss the 30th Anniversary celebrations. I packed the car (and 2 excited grandchildren) and headed off for a 3-night, 4 days stay at the new Hotel New York – Art of Marvel.

It’s a once in a lifetime celebration with jaw-dropping new shows, experiences and festivities. “Dream and Shine Brighter” is a joyful daytime show specially created for the 30th Anniversary where Mickey, Minnie and friends get to show off their new shiny costumes. 30 unique sculptures of Disney characters are on display in the various gardens and as night falls there’s a brand-new show with spectacular drone lights that illuminate the sky over Sleeping Beauty Castle – like magic! There’s so much that’s new and fun to experience so whether it’s a first visit or a 30th it’s a great time to discover, or re-discover, Disneyland Paris.

The legendary attractions are all there and some new ones! From thrill rides to family attractions and adventures for all ages. Avengers Assemble : Flight Force (new), Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, Star Tours, Crush’s Coaster are just a few of the exciting rides. Family favourites include Peter Pan’s Flight, Dumbo, Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin, and more. Adventure attractions include Spider-Man W.E.B., Cars Road Trip, Buzz Lightyear Blast, Ratatouille and lots more!

Disneyland Paris now has an exclusive App which is a great way to find your way around, book restaurants, check out the show schedules and ride waiting times and reserve your Premier Access, it can even speed up your Disney Hotel check-in. Premier Access allows you to join the fast lane for some of the most popular attractions. There’s a Premier Access Ultimate (use one time on each available attraction with no time slots) and a Premier Access One (use one time on one attraction with an allocated time slot) both of which can be purchased through the Disney App.

Accommodation:

There’s plenty of places to stay, from a Disney Hotel to the off-site Disney partner hotels all of which offer a free shuttle bus to the park. Disney’s 4-star hotel New York – Art of Marvel opened last year and we just had to experience the world’s first hotel inspired by Marvel. This metropolitan New York style hotel hosts the world’s largest collection of Marvel artwork with over 350 stunning original works by 110 international artists. There’s 471 Superior Rooms, 65 Empire State Rooms and 25 Suites all dedicated to Spider-Man, The Avengers or other Marvel characters. Each room features Marvel artwork. We had a Superior Room overlooking the front garden which was modern and very comfortable. I have produced a short video review of this room which you can see on our travel channel www.YourHolidayTV.com.

With its comfortable restaurants and themed bars this was an amazing place to stay and what particularly stood out for me was the life size Marvel figures in the lobby, a great boutique with Marvel souvenirs and collectables, selfie spots and the exclusive Super Hero Station where we met Spider-Man! The Design Studio is also well worth visiting where your little ones can learn to be a comic book artist.

Congratulations to Disneyland Paris on 30 years … may the magic long continue.
